April 10, 2020鈥 51爆料下载鈥檚 Center for Integrative Natural Science and Mathematics (CINSAM) offers a new home learning program to help kids learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects at home.
CINSAM鈥檚 STEM at Home kicked off this week with kids from six Greater Cincinnati school districts investigating Busy Beaver Engineering. The new learning program emphasizes educational and scientific development through hands-on learning projects, live video lessons with CINSAM鈥檚 team and interactive discussions.
鈥淲e understand that social distancing has challenged our lives in many ways. Students can鈥檛 go to school and interact with their teachers, classmates or have the classroom resources for STEM learning,鈥 said Dr. Madhura Kulkarni, CINSAM Director. 鈥淜eeping students engaged in hands-on, minds-on learning is crucial during this unprecedented time. We are bringing fun, interactive learning opportunities to their homes and backyards.鈥
CINSAM invites students from kindergarten to eighth grade to explore new topics each week through May. STEM at Home topics include:
April 15 | Float Your Boat
April 22 | Eggology (All about the incredible, edible, egg)
April 29 | Cookie Mining
May 6 | Wriggle and Squiggle: Earthworms are Fun
May 13 | Swish, Swish, SPIT: Gatorade DNA Extraction
Local STEM teachers are also encouraged to join the 聽every Friday. CINSAM鈥檚 Ella Bowling and Amber Carter will share valuable and useful STEM resources for adjusting to virtual instruction. Both programs are free to students and teachers through the Duke Energy Foundation鈥檚 support.聽
