Program Type: Undergraduate

Degree Awarded:  Select the degree to view its requirements and four-year plan.

Department: History

History today is about more than what you know; it’s what you can do. And we do things that matter.

We figure out why people think, act, and remember the way they do. We question what we’ve been told about the past and why they told us. We find hidden patterns, connect historical dots, analyze long-lost sources and artifacts, research what others have missed, and tell stories that persuade people.

You’ll work closely with expert faculty to create a curriculum tailored to your individual interests and goals. You’ll learn skills that employers want. You’ll engage in independent research, study abroad programs, internships, and other real-world experiences that do more than earn class credit…they prepare you for life.

"After three years at 51±¬ÁÏÏÂÔØ, I can truly say that it was a great decision. One of my most memorable courses was "Let's Make Some History: The United Fruit Company." This course introduced me to independent research as I contributed to our digital archive, and it allowed me to present at my first conference. I did all this just in my second semester at 51±¬ÁÏÏÂÔØ! The Department of History has been the ever-supportive backbone to my scholarly career."
