WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

In the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program, you will learn how to provide care for people of all ages and in a variety of health care settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics and community agencies. Throughout the program, you will have the opportunity for experiential learning in our state-of-the-art simulation center. As a graduate of the BSN Program you will be prepared to become a health care leader in a global society.

CAREER PATHS

The BSN degree allows for graduates to practice in a profession that integrates science and the art of caring.  Once you successfully complete the degree you will be eligible to sit for the state board licensing exam to become a registered nurse.  Registered nurses with a BSN degree are able to work in a variety of practice areas such as:

  • Acute care settings
  • Intensive Care Units
  • Specialty areas including pediatrics, maternity, and mental health nursing
  • Community health settings including schools, clinics, and health departments

 

KENTUCKY BOARD OF NURSING

The 51±¬ÁÏÏÂÔØ BSN nursing programs are approved by the Kentucky Board of Nursing (). 

 

The Commonwealth of Kentucky Board of Nursing certifies that the 51±¬ÁÏÏÂÔØ Baccalaureate Degree Program has met the requirements established by law and the Kentucky Board of Nursing. In alignment with the U.S. Department of Education regulation 34 CFR 668.43 (a) (5) (v) for Nursing Education, the Baccalaureate Degree Program at 51±¬ÁÏÏÂÔØ provides a comprehensive curriculum which prepares students to sit for the NCLEX-RN examination.  Students seeking licensure in states other than Kentucky and Ohio should refer to https://www.ncsbn.org/14730.htm for additional licensure requirements.

The Northen Kentucky University 2023 NCLEX Pass Rate was 98.9%.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

After the completion of the first semester of nursing, you will be able to work as a patient care assistant in the hospital.

Our students are gaining professional experience in area hospitals such as St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Christ Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
